Pakistan: Terrorists attack on police mobile patrol in Lakki Marwat, 6 cops die
New Delhi: At least six policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), died when two terrorists on a motorcycle opened fire on their mobile during routine patrolling in Pakistan's Lakki Marwat region, media reports said on Wednesday.
The incident took place within the parameters of the Dadiwala Police Station when the cops were conducting a routine patrol near a fair in the city, a spokesperson for the city's police told Geo News.
The deceased policemen were identified as ASI Ilm Deen, Detective Foot Constable Ahmed Nawaz, Lower Head Constable Zubair, Frontier Reserve Police's sepoy Usman Ali, Constable Mahmood Khan, and driver Dil Jan.
Search operation is going on to arrest the terrorists.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident and tweeted: "Let us make no mistake. Terrorism continues to be one of Pakistan's foremost problems. Our armed forces & police have valiently fought the scourge. No words are enough to condemn terrorists' attack on a police van in Lakki Marwat. My thoughts & prayers are with bereaved families."
The Turkish Embassy in Islamabad also condemned the attack and posted on Twitter: "We have learnt with deep sorrow that 6 police officers embraced martrydom due to a treacherous terrorist attack which was perpetrated in Lakki Marwat, KPK. We wish Allah’s mercy on the martyrs and extend our heartfelt condolences to bereaved families."
