Karachi, Nov 24 (IBNS): A woman SP, who led the security force that foiled the terror attack on the Chinese consulate in Pakistan's Karachi city on Friday, has earned appreciations from different corners of the south Asian nation for her bravery.

SP Suhai Aziz Talpur and her forces prevented the armed terrorists from reaching the diplomatic staff inside the consulate.

Two police officials were killed in the attack.

However, all the three attackers were killed in the incident.

Who is Suhai Aziz Talpur:

SP Suhai Aziz Talpur had joined the police force in 2013 after clearing the CSS examination.

According to reports, Suhai Aziz Talpur, who hails from a lower middle-class family of Bhai Khan Talpur village in Tando Muhammad Khan district, was once shunned by her relatives as her parents thought she deserved to be educated.

“When my parents decided to enrol me at a school, most of our relatives started taunting my family. So much so, that my family had to leave our village and move to a nearby town,” she told The Express Tribune.

A B.com graduate from Pakistan's Zubaida Girls College, told the Pakistan-based newspaper: "My family wanted me to become a chartered accountant but I found the job to be very dull as it had no social value. That is when I appeared for CSS and cleared it in the first attempt."

The first woman from lower Sindh said she credited her success to the hard work and her upbringing.

She said: "My parents are nationalists. As a child, they used to emphasise that I memorise Sindhi poetry. This developed my interest in literature and history, leading me to secure top marks in both the subjects in the CSS exams.”

Her father Aziz Talpur, a political activist and writer, said she dreamt big for her child.

“My relatives cut off ties with me because I wanted Suhai to study as they were only in favour of religious education,” Aziz told The Express Tribune. “But I vowed to provide my daughter quality education.”

Nation appreciates Suhai Aziz Talpur:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah reportedly visited the consulate after the attack and appreciated the lady cop for her bravery.

As per The Express Tribune report, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with other officials visited the Chinese consulate. He also appreciated the SP Talpur for her “quick response to the attackers”.

Pakistan Peoples Party leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari appreciated the cop and posted: "The reprehensible terrorist attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi, was thwarted by the courageous fight put up by our Sindh Police led by the courageous SSP Suhai Aziz. I salute the brave officers who were martyred courageously protecting our friends. We honor them."

Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) leader Senator Sherry Rehman tweeted: "In the middle of a hard day, Pakistan’s remarkable women rise to be the silver lining. So proud of SSP Suhai Aziz Talpur, the woman who fearlessly spearheaded the vanguard of the successful police operation against terrorists at Chinese consulate."
