Recent events in Afghanistan traumatised everyone: Expert

| @indiablooms | Sep 03, 2021, at 11:17 pm

Geo-political expert Dr Syed Akhtar Ali Shah has said the tragic events that unfolded in Afghanistan, the country which was overrun by Taliban in recent days, left everyone traumatised and sorrowful.

In his article published in The Express Tribune, he said, "The recent scenes of barbarity have exposed the devastating situation in Afghanistan, which is only expected to further deteriorate."

He said: "Human rights under the shadows of guns and bombs are a farfetched thought."

In his strongly worded article, he said people have the right to enjoy an environment free from coercion and uncertainty, which cannot be provided in a state ruled by men with mob mentality.

He said: "There is a need for laws and rigorous reforms."

He said: "The jubilant supporters of the Taliban’s governance argue that peace has returned, and life will be safer."

"Human rights in a broader context will not be conspicuous in a Talibanised Afghanistan as they are in other civilised nations," he said.
