Rohingya Issue: US envoy to stand beside Bangladesh government

Dhaka, Aug 25 (IBNS): US Ambassador Earl Robert Miller has said that his nation will stand beside Bangladesh in its efforts to repatriate the forcibly displaced Rohingyas to Myanmar.

Miller made the comments while attending an event where he distributed relief supplies among the flood victims at Ashtamir Char, Kurigram district.

“The United States and other countries in the UN will do whatever is needed to ensure the safe and dignified repatriation of the Rohingyas,” he was quoted as saying bdnews24.

“Bangladesh has shown immense kindness in providing shelter to the Rohingyas which demands applause. The US government will always extend its help to Bangladesh to resolve the Rohingya issue,” he said.

US envoy Miller also announced the contribution of $100,000 from the US government in a bid to help the Bangladeshi government in its attempt to combat the flood situation in the region.
