Saudi Arabia ships 80 metric tons of liquid oxygen to Covid-battered India
Saudi Arabia, a strategic partner of India, has shipped 80 metric tons of liquid oxygen to India, which is facing a massive crisis in oxygen supplies following an exponential rise in Covid 19 cases.
The shipment was arranged in coordination with India’s industrial giant Adani Group and Linde company, the Indian Embassy in Riydh said in a tweet.
The embassy also thanked the Saudi Arabian government for its help, support and cooperation for making the shipment possible.
“Embassy of India is proud to partner with Adani group and M/s Linde in shipping much-needed 80MT liquid oxygen to India. Our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Health Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all their help, support and cooperation,” the embassy posted on its Twitter account.
Retweeting the post, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adaniwrote on his Twitter account: “This first shipment of 4 ISO cryogenic tanks with 80 tons of liquid oxygen is now on its way from Dammam to Mundra.”
Mundra is the largest private port in India located on the Gulf of Kutch in Gujarat.
The oxygen crisis has led to people dying in many hospitals and people sending out distress calls seeking oxygen for critically ill patients in homes and hospitals as stores have run out of them.
