She'll pay a price for it: Donald Trump slams Taylor Swift for endorsing Kamala Harris

Former US President Donald Trump, who is running for the Presidential elections this time representing the Republicans, slammed international singing sensation Taylor Swift after she endorsed his opponent Kamala Harris.

Trump said Taylor Swift will have to "pay a price for it in the marketplace."

"I was not a Taylor Swift fan... she's a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she'll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace," Trump was quoted as saying by AFP.

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance also joined Trump in condemning Swift. “We admire Taylor Swift’s music but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music or fans of hers or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans,” he said.

She made her announcement hours after Trump and Harris were engaged in a heated Presidential debate where the two leaders exchanged blows over numerous issues including Israel and Hamas conflict.

Announcing her decision on her Instagram page, Taylor, who is one of the most followed international singers, wrote: "Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country."

She said, "I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos."

"I’ve done my research, and I’ve made my choice. Your research is all yours to do, and the choice is yours to make. I also want to say, especially to first time voters: Remember that in order to vote, you have to be registered! I also find it’s much easier to vote early. I’ll link where to register and find early voting dates and info in my story," she said.

Swift also shared an image of herself on Instagram where she could be seen holding a cat.

She also referred to herself as the 'Childless Cat Lady' in an apparent reference to Trump's running mate JD Vance who had reportedly called some leading Democrats "a bunch of childless cat ladies" in an interview in 2021.

According to a Reuters report, the singer drew more than 9 million "likes" to her Instagram post endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

This is one of the biggest endorsements that Kamala Harris received from the music industry.
