Trump takes a swipe at Hillary Clinton, terms Trump/Russia story as phony

In a two-part tweet, Trump, who was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America, suggested that he ran a better campaign than his counterpart Clinton to clinch victory.

The billionaire also took on FBI director James Comey, who is due to testify about the Russia/Trump case before the senate judiciary committee on Thursday.

"FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds!," a part of his tweet read.

In an ensuing tweet, the US President added, "The phony Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?"

Meanwhile, Clinton, the Democrat representative, who lost to Trump in last year's US presidential elections, was quoted in the media as saying that she would have become the President but could not as James Comey's letter and WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people.

"I was on the way to winning until a combination of Jim Comey’s letter on Oct. 28th and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but got scared off," she said at a luncheon on Tuesday.

"If the election had been on Oct. 27, I would be your president," Clinton further added.

In an interview with CNN at the luncheon, the former Secretary of the State also took a dig at the US President, stating that she had won three million more votes than Trump.

"The reason why I believe we lost were the intervening events in the last 10 days. And I think you can see I was leading in the early vote, I had a very strong — and not just our polling and data analysis — but a very strong assessment going on across the country about where I was in terms of, you know, the necessary both votes and electoral votes. And remember: I did win more than 3 million votes than my opponent," she said.
