White House dinner shooting suspect posted anti-Trump rants, Hitler comparisons: Report
As investigators piece together the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, the social media activity of suspect Cole Tomas Allen has come under intense scrutiny.
Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, has been identified by multiple US media outlets as the man in custody after the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner attended by Donald Trump and Melania Trump.
Investigators say Allen allegedly breached a security barrier during what authorities describe as an apparent attempt on the president’s life. Additional charges are expected.
Anti-Trump posts, Hitler comparisons
According to reports, Allen’s social media activity included repeated criticism of Trump, reposts comparing him to Adolf Hitler, and messages calling for resistance to his presidency.
He also reportedly shared posts suggesting the earlier assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania may have been staged.
On Bluesky, Allen allegedly posted profanity-laced attacks on Trump and accused his administration of betraying the country.
From video games to violent rhetoric
Earlier posts in 2022 were said to focus largely on gaming content, with Allen promoting a YouTube channel featuring videos about Super Smash Bros. before it was removed.
Authorities are now examining when and how his online presence shifted from gaming posts to extremist political anger.
Probe continues
US officials said investigators are still determining how many shots were fired and whether one bullet struck a United States Secret Service agent’s vest. Ballistics tests are underway.
Officials are also probing any possible links Allen may have had to political groups or extremist networks.
