Ankara/UNI/Sputnik: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has told his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan that he is ready to meet  Russian President Vladimir Putin in Istanbul or Ankara, Ibrahim Kalin, Turkish presidential spokesperson and adviser, said Saturday.

"During the phone talks of Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday, Zelenskyy said that he is ready to meet with Vladimir Putin in Istanbul, Ankara, wherever the Russian leader wants," Kalin said, quoted by Turkish broadcaster TRT.

Kalin noted that Erdogan had informed Putin about Zelenskyy's offer. Earlier in the day, Turkish presidential spokesman said Turkey is not planning to impose sanctions against Russia.

"We do not have a plan for sanctions [against Russia] at the moment," Kalin said, as quoted by the NTV broadcaster, adding that Turkey did not want to be "put into a position of a party to this conflict."
