Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that India has become the world’s second-largest 5G subscriber base, trailing only China, and is among the fastest adopters of the technology globally.

Sharing the milestone on social media, Scindia wrote:

"With over 400 million 5G users and counting, India today stands as the world’s second-largest 5G market and among the fastest adopters globally. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi, India’s 5G story is setting new global benchmarks in scale, speed, and digital transformation."

Since the launch of 5G services in October 2022, coverage has expanded to all States and Union Territories, reaching 99.6% of districts nationwide. As of February 28, 2025, Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) have installed 469,000 5G Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs), marking one of the fastest 5G rollouts in the world.

Overall, approximately 25 crore mobile subscribers have begun using 5G services, supported by the rapid deployment of infrastructure across the country.
