Aditya Birla Health launches Activ Yuva plan, targets young adults

Private insurer Aditya Birla Health Insurance Company Ltd (ABHICL) on Tuesday said its newly launched Activ Yuva plan is aimed at increasing insurance penetration among young Indians aged 25 to 35 years, a demographic where coverage remains relatively low.

ABHICL Chief Executive Officer Mayank Bathwal said fewer than 20 percent of young Indians are currently covered by health insurance.

"If we get more members of young India into insurance, then the insurance pool will become healthier. The prices can come down because they claim less. The seniors will benefit from that process," Bathwal told IBNS.

He said the company's long-term goal is to increase the share of young policyholders in the country's insurance pool.

"My target will be to see that 25 percent of the country's insurance pool is comprised of youngsters," he said.

Bathwal said the Activ Yuva plan was developed after extensive market research to address the specific healthcare and wellness needs of younger consumers.

"This product has actually been designed for the youth of the country," he said.

He added that the plan has received an encouraging response since its launch a couple of months ago.

"We launched it just a couple of months back, and we are already seeing very good traction within our product portfolio," he said.

Meanwhile, Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) recently reported strong financial performance for the quarter ended June 30, 2026.

The company's consolidated revenue rose 29 percent year-on-year to ₹14,731 crore in the first quarter of FY27, while consolidated profit after tax increased 40 percent to ₹1,175 crore.

Its overall lending portfolio, comprising the NBFC and housing finance businesses, grew 32 percent year-on-year and 6 percent sequentially to ₹2,19,289 crore as of June 30, 2026.

The company's total assets under management (AUM), spanning asset management, life insurance and health insurance businesses, climbed 36 percent year-on-year to ₹7,52,745 crore.

During the quarter, individual first-year premiums in the life insurance business increased 20 percent year-on-year to ₹952 crore, while health insurance gross written premium surged 50 percent to ₹2,196 crore.
