Fish feed produced by CIFA can increase fish growth by 6 gram daily: S.C.Rath

Kolkata, Feb 25 (IBNS) Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) has introduced fish feed "Gram ka Feed-Plus" which can increase growth of fish by 6 to 7 gram daily.

This was experimented in Ramakrishna Mission Samaj Sevak Sikshan Mandir (RKMSSSM), Belurmath, where fish has grown up to 2 kg. in a period of 8 months only in comparison to about one year and two months otherwise, stated, S.C.Rath, Nodal Officer, Fish Feeds Programme in a workshop cum training programme on “Farm made Fish Feeds in Aquaculture” organised at (RKMSSSM), Belurmath, Howrah on Thursday.

Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar with its regional research centre at Rahara, Kolkata conducted 8 months demonstration programme on fish feeds and aquaculture at RKMSSSM and Ramakrishna Mission Silpamandira, Belurmath, Howrah.

The programme was aimed to create awareness and disseminate technology based knowledge to the students of RKMSSSM as also to the local fish farmers informing them how to use low-cost farm made fish feeds for their own fish crop for maximum return from aquaculture.

Speaking on the occasion, . S.S.Giri, Coordinator of Fish Feeds Outreach programme of Indian Council of Agricultural Research informed the scope of demonstration and training on fish feeds and aquaculture for improving food as well as nutrition security in the country.
