Indian market: Sensex tanks 627.43 pts

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Wednesday, the last day of the financial year 2020-2021 dropped 627.43 points to settle at 49,509.15 on profit booking by Finance, Bankex, Telecom, Power and Technology stocks amid weak Asian Market.

The Nifty too fell by 154.40 pts to 14,690.70.

Surging 1128 pts on Tuesday, the sensex fell by 87 pts to open at 50,049.12. During the day it was tanked 692 pts to 49,442.50, days low before closing at 49,509.15, down by 627.43 pts from its previous close.

The sensex registered days high and low at 50,050.32 and 49,442.50 pts respectively.

The Nifty recorded days high and low at 14,813.75 and 14,670.25 pts respectively.

The sectoral indices like Finance, Bankex, Telecom, Power and Technology stocks dragged the market today. However, buying in FMCG, Consumer Durable, Realty and Materials stocks capped from further losses, broker said.

In scrips, HDFC, HDFC Bank, Powergrid, Tech Mahindra and ICICI Bank fell while ITC, Bajaj Finserv, Hind Unilever, SBI and TCS supported the market.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.07 pc and Small Cap by 0.52 pc.

In 30 scrips, 11 advanced while 19 declined.
