Itron expands Software Center of Excellence in Bangalore

Bangalore, May 12 (IBNS) Itron, Inc. (NASDAQ: ITRI), a world-leading technology and services company, announced Thursday it plans to expand its software Center of Excellence by doubling its workforce over the next two years.

The Bangalore Center of Excellence aims to be one of the world's leading development centers for innovative software and firmware solutions that enable utilities and cities to manage energy and water more resourcefully.

The Center of Excellence in Bangalore was established in 2013 and currently employs 240 people. With access to highly skilled software engineers in Bangalore, the center will focus on software application development to support smart cities and smart grid deployments globally.

With India’s immense talent pool, we believe we can build a sustainable future with the latest innovations, a commitment to quality and a shared passion for responsible resource management,” said Tom Deitrich, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Itron.

“The Center of Excellence in Bangalore is a display of our successful DevOps model of operations; it has enabled efficient problem resolution with faster delivery of features. Our global know-how and local software capabilities have helped accelerate innovation for smart cities in the age of the Internet of Things,” added Greg Richards, vice president, Global DevOps, at Itron.

Itron has a long history of helping utilities in India better manage energy and water. The company has successfully helped several water utilities in India by modernizing utility infrastructures to more efficiently and effectively manage precious water resources.
