3.7 magnitude earthquake hits Maharashtra

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jun 22 (UNI) An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richetr Scale hit Maharashtra's  Nanded and Hingoli districts on Friday, officials said on Saturday.

However, there were no loss of lives or damage to property reported in the quake.

The Yavatmal district, located in the Vidharba region of the state, too was shaken by natural jolts on Friday, said reports.

In Nanded, tremors struck Kinwat, Mahur, Hadgaon and Himayat Nagar neighbourhoods at 2110 hrs and lasted for 10-12 seconds.

The Kauta, Khudnapur, Borala and Kinola villages located in the Vasmat taluka of the Hingoli district were left shaken by quakes at 2115 hrs.

Owing to the tremors, the inhabitants of the villages of both the districts spent night outside their homes, fearing high magnitude earthquake,mentioned reports.
