Assam gears up for vaccination drive of age group of 15-18 years

Guwahati: Assam is gearing up to vaccinate those between the age group of 15 and 18 years from January.

According to the Assam Health department, the estimated population of the age group of 15-18 years in the state is around 18.25 lakh.

Dr Lakshmanan S – Mission Director National Health Mission (NHM), Assam said that, the vaccination drive for the age group of 15-18 years will be launched on January 3 and Assam is also preparing for it.

“In Assam, the estimated population of this group is around 18.25 lakh. Our discussions with various departments, districts administration are going on. Where the vaccine doses will be given to the teenagers is yet to be decided, but discussions are on,” the NHM, Assam Mission Director said.

He further said the state has now sufficient stock of COVID-19 vaccines and the state will follow the directives given by the centre.

According to the state government, till December 28, a total of 2,17,14,554 eligible persons of the state have received first dose of COVID-19 vaccines and 1,55,01,477 persons received second dose of vaccines.
