Bangladesh reports 78 COVID-19 deaths in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh registered 78 COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, highest daily figure recorded since the virus hit the country last year, media reports said.

The total death toll due to the virus in the country now stands at 9,739.

On March 5, 2021, the 7-day moving average of deaths in Bangladesh was 6.57 — the lowest since May 2020. Fewer than 40 days have passed since March 5 and on Sunday, the 7-day rolling average stood at 67.57 — the highest since the pandemic began, reports Dhaka Tribune.

Moreover, in the past 24 hours, 5,819 people have tested COVID-19 positive.
