Covid-19 vaccination drive: Over 3.81 lakh priority group beneficiaries inoculated

New Delhi/UNI: Over 3.81 lakh priority group beneficiaries have been vaccinated under the country's inoculation drive commenced on Jan 16.

So far, the country reported 580 severe events and two persons have reportedly died due to cardiopulmonary disease after getting their vaccination shots.

The death of a 52-year-old in Moradabad and a 42-year-old in Karnataka have not been linked to the vaccines till now.

Over 3.81 lakh priority group beneficiaries have been vaccinated three days into India’s inoculation drive.

The country reported 580 severe events and 2 persons — a 52 year old in Moradabad & a 42 year old in Karnataka — have reportedly died due to cardiopulmonary disease after getting their shots. The deaths have not been linked to the vaccines till now.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Jan 16 launched the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive, the world's largest against the deadly Coronavirus, and lauded the efforts of the scientific community for development of Covid vaccine calling it an example of India's talent and efficiency.

The government has approved two vaccines – Oxford-AstraZeneca’s ‘Covishield’ developed by the Serum Institute of India in India and Bharat Biotech’s ‘Covaxin.'
