Heavy rains predicted in Gujarat due to depression in Arabian Sea

New Delhi, June 24 (IBNS) :A warning forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places in Gujarat was issued by the India Meteorological Department in view of the depression over the Arabian Sea.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall was also forecast for a few places in Konkan, Goa, Saurashtra and Kutch regions.

This depression in the Arabian Sea weakened as it moved northeastwards over to land and was lay centered about 80 Km southeast of Ahmedabad, about 40 Kms north of Baroda this afternoon the June 24.

"Squally wind speeds reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph are expected to prevail along and off Gujarat and north Maharashtra coasts. Sea condition would be rough to very rough and fishermen have been warned not to venture into seas in this region," read a government statement.
