Himachal Pradesh: Five killed in rain-related mishap in last 24 hrs

Shimla: As many as five people died and eight were stranded in a rain-related incident as 11 houses, one hotel, and one vehicle were damaged by the incessant rainfall that has continued in the state for the last two days.

According to the state disaster management authority, the state has recorded five deaths, 13 landslides, nine flash floods, and two firing incidents in the last 24 hours.

A landslide hit a house at village Modholi under Kumersain subdivision at 0500 hrs on Sunday. Three people died in the debris of a house. A landslide also occurred at village Sari Chhaki Mode at 0200 hrs on Satudray, damaging six buildings and making thirty people makeshift in the labour colony.

An incident of landslide occurred at village Lankabekar in Kulu district at 1926 hrs last night. A woman was buried under the debris.

The information received this morning said that one lady died in the landslide. In another flash flood mishap, water entered the house at Vridashram Sukhsagar in Dobhi, trapping six to seven people.

An incident occurred at Kakiyan Teshsil of Chamba district in which one person got buried in a landslide and was found dead at 1930 hrs on Saturday.

A landslide hit NH-3 at Droni Mod near Keylong, and a flash flood occurred at three kilometres near Gramphu under police station Keylong as the road washed away by the flash flood and a HRTC bus struck in the muck.

Flash flood occurs in Kala Nallu, near Shenur village in Udaipur, in which the SKTT road gets blocked.

A flash flood occurred at Pagal Nalluh, and two major landslides occurred on the Mnali-Leh highway near Baralacha and Sarchu basses, disrupting vehicular traffic on NH-3. The rise water level disrupted NH-3 near Jispa. An flash flood also occurred at between Gramphuon Chota Dharra and Sumdo on NH505.

In Lahaul Spiti district, a flash flood occurred at Shakoli Nullah in Miyar Valley, disrupting the road to the valley.

In Mandi district, heavy rainfall occurs at Pandoh Bazar, flooding houses with the discharge of Pandho dam. State Disater Releif force team along with equipment was deployed at 0728hrs on Sunday carrying rescue operations.

Six people, including five males, one female, and one handicapped, have been rescued by the SDRF. Landslide has ooccured on Mandi-Kamand Bajoura road at 1055 hrs on Sunday.

A landslide also disrupted NH 707 at Gangtoli near Poanta Sahib, a retaining wall collapse at Happy Valley Deonghat, and the Government Senior Secondary School Chandi retaining wall collapse in Soland district, and closed Bhadhalag Road. Road debries entered the house at Mauja Khakhron under Nalagarh in Solan district.
