India continues to record high COVID-19 deaths as 4194 people succumb to virus in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India continued to record high fatalities due to COVID-19 as the country witnessed 4,194 deaths in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Saturday.

The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 2,95,525.

During the same period, 2,57,299 new COVID-19 cases were recorded.

However, giving some hope to the nation, which has been ravaged by the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, 3,57,630 people recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours.

There are 29,23,400 active cases in the country at present.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 32,64,84,155 samples have been tested so far for coronavirus, of which record 20,66,285 tests were conducted in the past one day.
