New Delhi/IBNS: India added over 1.61 lakh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours registering a gradual decline in the positivity rate after a massive third wave of the deadly virus, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday morning.

In the last 24 hours, 1,61,386 COVID-19 cases were reported from across the country while the toll went up by 1,733.

In the same span of time, 2,81,109 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from various medical facilities taking the discharge rate to 94.91%.

With the gradual decline in cases, various states have already eased COVID-19 restrictions or lockdown if any besides reopening educational institutions in a phased manner.

So far under the country's national vaccination drive, which is the largest in the world, 167.29 anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered.
