India reports 3,303 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 3,303 new Covid-19 cases while the toll went up by 39 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said on Thursday.

In the same span of time, 2,563 Covid-19 patients have recovered.

The active caseload, which now forms 0.04% of the total cases, currently stands at 16,980.

In a coronavirus review meeting with the Chief Ministers of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the coronavirus challenge has not yet been surpassed.

"Despite managing the Covid crisis well as compared to other countries, we can see an uptick in cases in states now. We have to stay alert," the Prime Minister said.

Under the national vaccination drive, 188.40 crore anti-Covid-19 vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country.

After Biological E's Corbevax, India's drug regulator (DCGI) on Wednesday approved Bharat Biotech's Covaxin as the second anti-Covid vaccine for children aged 5-12.
