Kolkata: KMC official dies of dengue at a private hospital

Kolkata, Nov 1 (UNI) In yet another incident, a Kolkata Muncipal Corporation official Santanu Mazumder today fell prey to mosquito-borne related dengue.

The KMC offiicial, in his mid-40s and a resident of Khardah in North 24 Parganas, had been admitted to a private hospital with severe fever.

He was admitted along with his father, who also also affected with dengue.

However, Santanu's condition deteriorated since last night and he breathed his last this morning.

A few days ago 34-year-old Saswati Barik, a resident of Bangur Avenue, died of dengue in South Dum Dum Municipal hospital.

The state has has been severely hit by the mosquito-borne disease and so far about 20 people have died of dreaded dengue.

A report said the number of dengue affected cases since January were 2500 and the areas where it is prevalent are Behala, Jadavpur, Tollygunj, Golf Green, Baghajatin,Tamgarh, New Alipur, E M Bypass, Dum Dum and Sinthi.
