Nashik reels under heavy rain and floods

Nashik, Aug 3 (IBNS): Heavy downpour over three days has disrupted normal life in Nashik, Maharashtra, according to media reports on Wednesday.

In a span of nine hours, from 08:30 PM August 2, 2016 to 05:30 AM August 3, 2016, Nashik has received a monstrous rainfall figure of 194 mm, reported skymetweather.com.

The Godavari is flowing above the danger mark, which has also compounded the problem.

Residents complained that no help has been offered from the government and there is shortage of food and drinking water, reported NDTV.

Five people have died owing to the rains and flooding, media reported.

The Coast Guard rescued 28 people who were marooned by the flood water.

Tweeted National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), "26 personnel including  3 days baby rescued till now at Karanj Gaon, dist. Nashik,Maharashtra."
