Pakistan records 50 fresh COVID-19 deaths

Islamabad: Fifty people died due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Pakistan, a country which has witnessed several critical wave of the pandemic, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Friday.

The country reported 2,233 new COVID-19 cases since Thursday.

A total of 27,482 people died due to COVID-19 in Pakistan, including 50 patients who lost their lives to the pandemic over the last 24 hours, NCOC said.

The overall tally of the infected people climbed to 1,234,828 across the country, it said NCOC, the department leading Pakistan's campaign against the pandemic.

Pakistan's southern Sindh province is the worst hit, with a total of 453,858 cases, followed by Punjab province where the virus was detected in 426,639 people.

The country currently has 60,952 active cases, while 1,146,394 others have recovered.

The vaccination drive in the country has also picked up the pace, with 25,493,964 people fully inoculated, according to the latest official data.
