PM visits Institute for Stem Cell Research, interacts with scientists

Bengaluru, Feb 18 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited the Institute for Stem Cell Research at the National Centre for Biological Sciences in Bengaluru.
He visited the Stem Cell Laboratory where scientists explained the research being conducted there. 
 
Later, the Prime Minister interacted with young scientists for over half an hour. 
 
The subjects discussed included research on traditional Indian medicine, progress being made towards finding a cure for sickle cell anaemia using gene therapy, wildlife conservation through gene banks, and the `Make in India` initiative. 
 
Modi urged the scientists to interact with schoolchildren and motivate them to build careers in this field. 
 
Union Ministers DV Sadananda Gowda and Ananth Kumar were present on the occasion.
