Second COVID positive case reported in Tamil Nadu: Vijaybaskar

Chennai/UNI: Tamil Nadu reported the second positive case of Coronavirus, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar confirmed on Wednesday.

The patient, who tested positive, hails from Delhi.

He was in isolation at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) and his condition was stable.

He was under observation by the expert team treating COVID-19, he added.

In a tweet on Coronaupdate, Dr Vijayabaskar said '#RGGH, Chennai reports the 2nd positive case for #Covid19. The Pt hails from Delhi, is in isolation & stable is under the observation of the expert team treating #Covid19'.

Meanwhile, the first person, a native of Kancheepuram, who was tested positive, was discharged from hospital yesterday after treatment.

Updating the statistics on COVID-19, he said a total of 1,89,750 passengers were screened, 2,984 were under followup, samples tested 222, Negative
results were 166 and 55 tests were under process.

'Beds in Isolation Wards- 1120 Current Admissions-32', he said.

He also said quarantine facilities were set up at four locations across the state to accommodate up to 500 people which was sufficient for the present
situation.

'We are prepared to scale up based on recommendations from the Union Health Ministry', he added.
