Vizag, Oct 11 (IBNS) : Cyclone Titli that hit the coast in southern Odisha on early Thursday, had a severe impact on neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, leaving two persons dead, media reports said.

The cyclone uprooted trees and electric poles.  'Titli' which intensified into a "very severe cyclonic storm" over the Bay of Bengal also triggered  heavy rain and strong winds.

Over three lakh people in Odisha's five coastal districts were moved to safety as a precautionary measure. The disaster management authority has asked people to stay away from low-lying beaches and other locations which may be swept by high tides or storm waves.

'Titli' made a landfall near Gopalpur area in Odisha,  Indian weather officials said.

The landfall started early on Thursday morning.

School and colleges in the cyclone-hit area have remained closed.

Train and flight services have been hit badly in Odisha.
