AI technology unites India through virtual rendition of national anthem

Mumbai/IBNS: The idea that India stands united in the face of all adversities, including the current pandemic sweeping across the globe, was once again driven home, this time through the presentation of a virtual rendition of the country’s national anthem sung by various people.

‘The Virtual National Anthem’, a larger than life coming together of voices of Indians from across the country, hit Google Search, the YouTube masthead and Doordarshan on Independence Day.

The initiative was spearheaded  by Prasar Bharati, powered by Google, and created by noted filmmaker Bharatbala.

The voices collected by Google AI were placed into a cinematic re-imagination of Jana Gana Mana by Bharatbala and his team at Virtual Bharat.

Bharatbala said, “In a time when we have all been so distant from each other - to bring the people of India together virtually – basically to create a  virtual Bharat – was my reason to partner with this idea.”

Some of his other creative renditions include Vande Mataram Ma Tujhe Salaam, Jana Gana Mana featuring 50 of India’s classical maestros, Incredible India ad films, etc.

Bharatbala is currently working on 'Virtual Bharat', a 1000-film journey about untold human stories of India, which premiered in August 2019.
