Kolkata, Dec 14 (IBNS) Google on Monday celebrated noted yoga guru BKS Iyengar's 97th birth anniversary with a special doodle.

The man known for 'Iyengar Yoga', a different technique of yoga founded by him, was born in 1918.

Though Bellur Krishnamachar Sundararaja Iyengar was rather a weak and sickly child, his health improved after undertaking yoga classes.

He trained under his brother-in-law, noted yogi Tirumalai Krishnamacharya.

Iyengar, also known as the 'father of modern yoga' was awarded all three Padma Awards. He received the Padma Shri in 1991, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma Vibhushan in 2014, the year he died.
