CM to inaugurate 40th International Kolkata Book Fair on Jan 25

Kolkata, Jan 19 (IBNS): Organizers of the 40th International Kolkata Book Fair, which will be inaugurated at Milan Mela ground on Jan 25 in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, will follow plastic free zone this year.

The general secretary of Publishers and Book Guild Tridip Chatterjee said, “This year we are strictly following plastic free zone. We have taken major steps to ensure that jute and paper bags are used instead of plastics.”

“This year for the first time we have launched interactive website facility, through which book lovers can get hold of book privilege cards and information regarding major events of the Book fair,” he added.

The 40th International Kolkata Book Fair is all set to start from Jan 27 and will continue till Feb 7.

There will be 600 stalls and 200 little magazines for enthusiastic readers to quench their thirst for books.

Daily lottery will be held for those who make purchase above Rs 500. The CESE will distribute Book gift coupon worth Rs 10,000 per day for the lucky winner.

A special ‘CESE Literary Sahitya Samman’ will be awarded this year to one deserving author who will be selected by CESC and Guild.
