Karbi Utsav celebrated in Guwahati Book Fair

Guwahati, Dec 29 (IBNS): Noted Assamese literaturate and former president of Asom Sahitya Sabha Homen Borgohain on Friday said that, Karbi people are rich in folk-literature and folk-culture.

While attending in the Karbi Utsav (Karbi Festival) celebrated in the ongoing Guwahati Book Fair organized by Assam Publication Board at Chandmari in Guwahati, the Chief Editor of Assamese news daily Niyamiya Barta said that, his relation with the Karbi people is much better than the other writers of the state.

“I travelled Karbi Hills several occasions and fell in love with the rich Karbi culture and its people,” Homen Borgohain said.

For the first time, the Karbi Day was observed in the Guwahati Book Fair.

On the occasion, a special book named ‘Karbi Sahitya Pratibhar Chaneki” edited by Homen Borgohain and published by Assam Publication Board was also unveiled in the Book Fair.

Assamese literaturate Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi had released the book in presence of MLA Numal Momin, Sum Ronghang, artist Biren Singha, Bidyasing Rongpi, Debesh Sing Engti, Chandra Sing Teron, Arun Teron, Pabitra Bora.

A discussion forum was also held on the occasion of Karbi Utsav in presence of Dilip Kalita, Lunche Timung, Dhaneswar Engti, Hangmiji Hanse.

Earlier, Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang inaugurated the Karbi Utsav in the book fair.
