Leading social media services WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram inaccessible to many users

Bengaluru/IBNS: Top social media platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook are down for several days and outage tracking platforms have also noted rise in outage periods, said media reports.

The problem has been mainly in Europe, while the interruption has been also reported by some users in the US, said a Gadgets 360 report. The outage which affected all major Facebook products started around 3pm IST.

However, the majority of users in India are yet to notice the downtime, said the report.

Downtime tracking site Downdetector also showed the leading social media sites have been inaccessible, the report added. Thousands of users have complained reporting the outage in Europe, it said.

According to the report the problem apparently started from Europe and then in UK and then spread to the rest of the world.
