OAK celebrates annual cultural event Vande Utkal Janani at Science City Auditorium

Kolkata, Apr 15 (IBNS) Odias@Kolkata (OAK) celebrated their annual cultural event christened as Vande Utkal Janani (VUJ) at the Science City auditorium at Kolkata on Apr 9.

Five hundred Odias, from different walks of life, staying at Kolkata attended this grand celebration to mark 80th Utkal Divas. VUJ is being celebrated to commemorate the formation of Odisha as a separate province on 1st April 1936.

Odias@Kolkata (OAK) fraternity in unison and absolute solidarity pay tributes to the legends and reformers like Utkala Gaurav Madhusudan Das, Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das, Maharaja Ramachandra Bhanjadeo, Acharya Harihar Das, Fakir Mohan Senapati and Gouri shankar Ra, among others.

On this day OAK invites legendary artistes of yesteryears as Guests in their VUJ function at Kolkata as a mark of tribute for their exemplary contribution.  On this occasion OAK family felicitated the Cheshire Home.

Veteran Odia play back singer Tansen Singh who has sung over 1000 memorable songs in All India Radio and 30 films performed at the event.   Three popular Hashya Kabi – Kabi Satyanash, Kabi Kulangar and Kabi Virus also enthralled the audience with their unique style of ‘Byanga Kavita’. The star attraction of this event was a spectacular performance by ‘Chau Troupe’ a popular folk dance troupe from Mayurbhanj District of Odisha.  Apart from this, the children and families of members also presented some enthralling performances of song, dance and music.
