Pune CA earns Rs 12 lakh in just days During ITR Season, X post sparks massive debate

With the Income Tax Return (ITR) filing season having just concluded in India, a post on X has sparked widespread discussion after a user claimed that a Pune-based chartered accountant (CA) earned nearly Rs 12 lakh in just a few days by serving around 400 clients.

According to the post, the CA charged Rs 3,000 per client during the ITR filing season and hired two interns to cope with the surge in demand.

X user Paritsh Sharma wrote: "Friend of mine in Pune is a CA who helps people in his network file their ITRs."

"He started just three years ago. Today, he has around 400 clients," Sharma said.

"He charges ₹3,000 per client during the ITR season, making around ₹12 lakh in just a few days. He has even hired two interns to handle the workload," he added.

Sharma further claimed that as the CA's professional network expanded, clients began approaching him for additional services such as business registrations, accounting, and regulatory compliance.

"Today, he's making more from his practice than from his full-time job," Sharma wrote.

The post quickly gained traction on social media, triggering a debate over the earning potential of chartered accountants during the tax filing season.

One user commented: "Yes, with an option of personal consultation by a CA during ITR filing, this kind of earning is very much possible. Online ITR platforms have relatively higher charges for CA-assisted filing. Sensible people always prefer a CA over online platforms at these rates."

Another user wrote: "I paid ₹1,700 for self-filing on ClearTax."

A third user said: "Exactly right. ₹1,000-₹3,000 filing charges are common, and some CAs also take 10% of the tax refund. Mine does too."
