All India Muslim Personal Law Board decides to file review petition against SC verdict on Ayodhya dispute

New Delhi/IBNS:  The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Sunday said it will review the petition against the verdict given by the Supreme Court in connection with the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute case this month.

The board said it will file a review petition within 30 days.

News18 quoted Arshad Madani, president of the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, one of the key players in the Ayodhya mediation process, saying "the top court in its judgment said that the mosque was not built by demolishing a temple, yet the mosque was not given to us." "So we will file a review petition and ask for what is rightfully ours."

In a historic judgement to a politically-sensitive Ayodhya case which has been raging for almost 70 years, the Supreme Court recently paved way for the construction of Ram Temple in the disputed 2.77 acres of land in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya dismissing the Sunni Waqf Board's claim to the land.

The apex court also directed that a mosque be built over 5 acres in a prominent location.

The Board said it is not going to accept the alternative five-acre land.

"We cannot accept any land in lieu of the masjid," the board was quoted as saying by the media.

Amid a tightened security across the nation and particularly in Uttar Pradesh, a five-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi asked the Indian government to set up a trust within three months to decide on the disputed Ayodhya land for the Hindus to build a temple, while they asked for a five-acre land for the Muslims to construct a mosque in a prominent alternative location.
