Assam: 49 gold bars worth Rs. 4 crore recovered from Karbi Anglong, two arrested

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have recovered 49 gold bars weighing 8 kg in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

The market value of the seized gold bars is estimated at around Rs 4 crore.

Police have arrested two people and seized a four wheeler.

Karbi Anglong district police said that, during regular Naka Checking at Dilai Tiniali on Saturday night, its team intercepted a vehicle and searched it. They recovered four packets (wrapped with black tap) where 49 pieces of gold bars were hidden.

Bokajan SDPO John Das said that each gold bar was individually measured and found to be weighing 8.018 kg.

In a tweet, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote: “Assam police shall spare none. In a massive operation, 49 gold bars weighing 8 kgs were recovered by @karbianglongpol at Dilai today. Two people involved in it were nabbed.”
