Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday served a notice to BJP's Barrackpore MP Arjun Singh in connection with an alleged economic offence case, officials said.

According to sources in the state probe agency, Arjun Singh has been asked to appear in the office of CID's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) at Bhabani Bhaban in Kolkata on May 25 at 11 am. for interrogation.

CID officials said the BJP leader had been summoned in connection with an alleged economic offence case which was registered with Bhatpara Police Station in North 24 Parganas last year.

"It is evident during investigation that you have sufficient knowledge in this case and it is necessary that you be examined to ascertain your role in the instant case for the interest of investigation," the probe agency's notice to the senior politician read.
