Bengaluru/IBNS: The wife and in-laws of a Bengaluru techie, who committed suicide and left a 24-page death note, have been booked by the Marathahalli police, media reports said.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against 34-year-old Atul Subhash's wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania and uncle Sushil Singhania.

The FIR has been filed under Sections 108 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

As per the FIR, false cases were filed against Atul by the accused who demanded Rs. 3 crore to settle the matter.

It also stated the accused had asked for Rs. 30 lakh from Atul to allow him to see their child.

Atul and Nikita, who got married in 2019, were separated.

In a suicide video, Atul, who is originally from Uttar Pradesh, alleged that he and his family were slapped with charges of murder, dowry harassment and unnatural sex. However, Nikita later withdrew the case.

Speaking to ANI, Atul's brother Bikas Kumar said, "Around 8 months after my brother's wife separated from him, she filed a divorce case and framed many charges against my brother and our entire family under different acts and sections."

Atul was found hanging at his home on Monday with a 24-page suicide note.

In the suicide note, Atul alleged his wife was getting Rs. 40,000 per month for maintenance despite having a job at Accenture and even asked for Rs. 2-4 lakh more.

"Justice is due," wrote Atul in every single page of the note.

In the video message, Atul asked his parents not to immerse his ashes until justice is delivered to him.

Atul had sent the suicide video to the WhatsApp group of an NGO with which he was linked.

Atul highlighted another exchange with his mother-in-law in the suicide note in which she allegedly asked why he had not died by suicide yet.

When Atul replied that how would they get money if he died, she allegedly said, "Your father will pay. Your parents will die after you, and your wife will get the money."

Atul Subhash then posted this video on X and tagged its CEO Elon Musk as well as US President-elect Donald Trump. "I will be dead when you will read this. A legal genocide of men happening in India currently. A dead man is requesting Elon Musk and Donald Trump to save millions of life from woke Ideologies, Abortion, DEI and restore freedom of speech in India," he had said in the post.

Mumbai-based lawyer Abha Singh called the incident a "gross misuse" of anti-dowry laws. She said the misuse would deny justice to women who genuinely need the law for protection.

Even Atul's brother Bikas highlighted that all Indian laws favour women over men and the deceased fought for the cause before committing sucide.
