BJP set to sweep Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls

| @indiablooms | Dec 03, 2023, at 04:54 pm

Bhopal/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to sweep the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election once again.

At 11 AM, the Congress is ahead in 156 seats - more than double the opposition Congress' 71.

These numbers represent a gain of 47 seats for the BJP and a loss of 43 for the Congress, relative to the 2018 results.

Among the heavyweights, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leading from Budhni while his predecessor, the Congress' Kamal Nath, is trailing in Chhindwara.

Speaking to reports, Shivraj Singh Chouhan has credited "able leadership" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the trends in his state.

Exit polls had predicted a tight BJP vs Congress race but gave an edge to the former.
