Chennai; Two on bike drops bag with Rs 1.5 cr cash on seeing police, flees
Chennai, May 27 (UNI) In a shocking incident, two people, who were riding in a two-wheeler dropped a bag containing about Rs 1.5 crore cash, at Abhiramapuram area in the city on Monday morning.
Police sources said a patrol team tried to stop the duo for routine vehicle checks.
But the duo, dropped the bag and sped away.
The Police personnel opened the bag and found several bundles of currencies under Rs 500 denomination. It was later taken to the Abhiramapuram police station.
''If anyone come to claim the cash with proper documents, it will be handed overt to them.
Otherwise it will be handed over to the government treasury after counting'', police sources said.
They said the seized cash was estimated to be about Rs 1.5 crores.
