New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the three-lane flyover at Moti Nagar on Wednesday to alleviate traffic congestion for commuters in the national capital.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Kejriwal said, "Earlier, it used to take half an hour to travel half a kilometre. It gets irritating and tiring to get stuck in traffic. With the construction of the new flyover, this will be covered within 3 minutes. The Moti Nagar flyover is just a small component; the bigger and primary component is the Club Road flyover, which will be ready by July of this year.”

“It took 18 months to build the Moti Nagar flyover, and the Club Road flyover will be completed in about 21 months,” he added.

“After independence, in the last 75 years, 63 flyovers had been constructed in Delhi. Since the people of Delhi entrusted us with responsibility, in the last 10 years, we have built 31 flyovers.

Today, we are inaugurating the 31st flyover. We have demonstrated 50% of the work done in the past 75 years in Delhi in just 10 years. It only requires clear intentions. Earlier, the issue was not lack of funds but lack of intention,” the Aam Aadmi Party convenor alleged.

“Currently, two types of work are underway in Delhi. One is for the welfare of the people, such as providing free electricity. This has slightly reduced the burden of inflation on the people.

As a result of free electricity, approximately 73% of the people in Delhi receive zero electricity bills. Electricity is available in Delhi 24 hours a day now, which has greatly benefited the people,” he said.

Meanwhile, PWD Minister Atishi said, “Everyone is well aware that earlier, one had to spend more than half an hour to cross this stretch of the Ring Road. Today, with the inauguration of this Moti Nagar flyover, people get great relief from traffic congestion.”

“As this flyover will eliminate traffic congestion, the speed of the vehicles will increase on this stretch, and it will help the people of Delhi save more than 6 lakh litres of fuel every year.

This will also save travel time; 9000 man-hours will also be saved, and people will be able to spend that time with their family or on their work. This Moti Nagar flyover will also help us reduce more than 50000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions every year,” she said.

This flyover will benefit not only the people of Delhi and the environment but will also boost the economic growth of the national capital, Atishi added.
