Digvijaya Singh picks nomination form for Congress presidential elections

New Delhi/UNI: Congress leader Digvijay Singh Thursday collected the nomination form for the upcoming Congress presidential elections.

Singh, who is heading the panel that is organising party leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, reached the Congress office on Thursday and picked up the form.

He is likely to submit it on Friday, the last date for filing nominations.

Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor is also likely to submit his nomination form the same day.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the front runner for the top Congress post, is scheduled to meet party president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.

Earlier, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram met Digvijaya Singh while General Secretary Mukul Wasnik met Gehlot. General Secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal met the Congress President.

The nominations can be withdrawn till 3 pm on Oct 8, and the first list of candidates will be published at 5 pm on the same day.

If there is more than one candidate, the election will be held on Oct 17 and counting on Oct 19.
