According to reports, DRI has arrested as many as 13 drug smugglers in Tripura on Wednesday in three separate raids and seized contraband items worth Rs 30 lakh and Rs 68,000 in cash.

In two raids at Bishalgarh in Sepahijala district 23 brown sugar-filled vials, 121 empty vials, six mobile phones and Rs 68,000 in cash were seized and six persons identified as Mintu Banik, (35), Arup Das (31), Jhutan Das (28), Rakesh Das (32), Narayan Das (20) and Sanjay Sutradhar (18) were arrested.

BSF seized 4,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 20 lakh wrapped in a polythene packet in South Tripura district. The smugglers, however, fled the spot towards the Indian side of the border area taking advantage of darkness and thick vegetation.

In yet another incident, a joint team of BSF troops, deployed at the border outpost Rayermura, along with Directorate of Revenue Intelligence personnel, seized 2,500 bottles of Phensedyl worth of Rs 3.85 lakh, from a truck that was parked at Bypass Road and arrested the assistant of the vehicle.
