Eight Ayyappa devotees injured after huge tree falls on them
Sabarimala/UNI: As many as 8 Ayyappa devotees were injured, two of them seriously, when a huge tree fell on them while they were trekking on the Chandranandan road near Marakkuttam, here in the wee hours on Tuesday.
Police said, five of the injured from Kerala were identified as Ravi, Preman, Guruprasad, Santha and Anil Kumar. Three among them were admitted to Sannidhanam Hospital and the rest in Charalmedu Hospital.
Another injured devotee from Tamil Nadu, Sreenu, was taken to Pathanamthitta General Hospital.
The two seriously injured devotees from Andhra Pradesh --- Nageswara Rao and Satheesan, were admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital, police added.
Following the incident, Police and Fire Force rushed to the spot and cleared the debris from the road where trekking of devotees was stopped for some time.
