Four cops injured in Assam blast by ULFA (I)

Guwahati, Sept 19 (IBNS) : At least four army personnel were injured in a powerful explosion triggered by United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) in Upper Assam's Sivsagar district along Arunachal Pradesh border on Friday morning.

According to reports, the incident took place at Kherbari area near Sonari in the Upper Assam district, where a powerful IED exploded.

''The IED  exploded, when an army vehicle had passed the area, in which four security personnel were injured,'' a top police official said.

The injured cops were rushed to Dinjan army hospital.

The army vehicle was also damaged in the blast.

Top police and army officials had rushed to the remote area and launched operation against the militants.

Meanwhile, ULFA(I) has  taken responsibility of the explosion.

In a press release sent to media, the outfit group has claimed that, at least seven army personnel were injured in the explosion.
