Girl dies after consuming poisonous substance in Prayagraj

A girl died whereas a youth was taken ill after consuming some poisonous substance in Kaundhiyara area of Prayagraj district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Sunday.

Police sources said that Lalit and the teenage girl consumed some poisonous substance allegedly over an affair.

"While the girl died, the youth was admitted to the hospital after his condition deteriorated," they said.

Police sources said that the father of the deceased has alleged that Lalit had enticed his daughter and eloped with her on Saturday.

"The father of the girl has alleged that on Sunday morning he received information that his daughter was admitted to the community health centre where doctors declared her dead," they said.

Police sources said that on the complaint of the girl's father a case of enticing the teenager and administering her poisonous substance has been lodged. "The matter is being investigated by the police," they said.
