Good to see Shiv Sena criticising BJP despite being ally partner: Mamata Banerjee
Mumbai, Nov 2 (IBNS): After meeting with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said it is good to see the Sena chief criticising the ruling party at the Centre despite being the ally partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra.
Banerjee went to Mumbai to attend a session by a global organisation of young entrepreneurs on Tuesday.
She met Reliance Industries chairperson Mukesh Ambani on Tuesday and invited him to the business summit in West Bengal, scheduled to take place in January, 2018. Ambani has agreed to attend the summit.
Banerjee, after meeting Thackeray, did not reveal much about her role in the unified Opposition that she greatly favours in the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
When asked by the reporters, the West Bengal chief minister said: "I am a small fry. Let us work as a collective family."
The Shiv Sena has taken various stands against the ruling BJP and they even went on to say that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi has gone better with time as a politician.
The Shiv Sena has dropped a hint at leaving its ally partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in Maharashtra over the issue of fuel price hike weeks ago.
Sena leader Sanjay Raut took to Twitter to give an ultimatum to the NDA government.
In a series of tweets, the Sena leader poured out his anger against the BJP that rules the central government, for being reluctant to control the fuel prices, which has been on the rise.
The Shiv Sena has even slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government for the Mumbai stampede at Elphinestone railway station, which claimed 23 lives, calling it a "public massacre".
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut told media: "The stampede on the foot overbridge at Elphinstone Road railway station is a apublic massacre of the people by the government."
He also attacked the BJP over the recently launched bullet train and said the safety and security should be given the top priority.
