Heeraben Modi's death: PM Narendra Modi to join development programmes in Bengal via video conferencing

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was scheduled to visit West Bengal on Friday and now he will join the scheduled programmes via video conferencing despite the demise of her mother, officials said.

Prime Minister Office tweeted, "PM @narendramodi will join today’s scheduled programmes in West Bengal via video conferencing. These programmes include the launch of key connectivity related projects and the meeting of the National Ganga Council."

PM Modi has left for Ahmedabad following the death of his mother  Heeraben Modi to attend her last rites. 

Heeraben Modi passed away at a hospital in Ahmedabad on Friday.

Modi visited Ahmedabad and performed her last rites later.

During his visit to Kolkata, Modi was scheduled to flag off Vande Bharat Express connecting Howrah to New Jalpaiguri.

He will also inaugurate Joka-Taratala stretch of Purple Line of Kolkata Metro and lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various Railway projects.
